In the short project proposal for application, I am thinking do research about how to use hand-painting in graphic design. So when we start to visit those places which we chose for team presentation, I collected some presswork, bills, prospectus, advertisments from the destinations.
It’s something different to what I used to do when I was studying and working before. Base on each background, history and culture, designers may have different thoughts when they doing design, use different visual factors. Traditional pattern use, for example, I noticed that in castle museum, most presswork picked from there you can feel its about UK’s history. And it’s the same in many Chinese’s mesuem. Also, in Rosy Lees Teashop, some differences to chinese’s teahouse as well. Because in China, teahouse is see as place for relax, social life (quiet different with UK, people here would have social life in pub more often), we set the whole house with traditional ways, there always furniture made with bamboo, some art works of handwriting, big and comfortable sofa with gental, soft, traditional music. And unlike of somepeople work in the Rosy Lees Teashop with laptops, its rarely happen in chinese teahosue, they may do that in the fastfood resturant. On the wall of Rosy Lees Teashop, they draw some morden city and people’s portrait, also has little chance happen in chinese’s teahouse,
But since the developing of internet, it improved cultural globalization, mutual influence happens quiet common around the world. For instance, in the Broadway Cinema and Media Centre, the way to design the posters is similar in someway.
From the pressworks I collected from some places, it seems not very often use of hand-painting, the same in many countries I guess, So, I am thinking try do test to make some change for those presswork, see how it looks.
